mental kitten

I was sure I posted this earlier but its gone now, so apologies if this is a repeat.

My kitten is about 3 months old, had him for just under 2 months. He is mental.

Now, I know kittens play, and scratch and bite. And that its all part of the joyousness of kittenhood.

BUT! Im not sure if mine is extra-specially mental? He has literally shredded my bedroom curtains and the nets in my living room. My house looks like a right dive from the outside now! He knocked over a vase of flowers earlier and it smashed and there was glass everywhere :( I knew he would.

He seems to always be on a mad one. I got a water sprayer today and I have decided to give him a quick spritz when he climbs up something he shouldn't. I know it sounds mean, but its probably kinder than me yelling all day and chasing him.

I guess I just want to know if he will grow out of it? Or if he will be mental forever?

He will calm down, he's just exploring. It's a bit like kids distraction is better than punishment in most cases.

Mine love empty boxes, chasing laser pointers, and although it was expensive (think about fourty odd pounds) those cat towers are a great investment. If you can clear a route for him to climb somewhere high he'll probably love that too. You can get quite a few decent toys for cats, it's a bit hit and miss what they'll enjoy though.

I have to say I did consider getting a fish tank to entertain the cats but decided that was a step too far and just hung some bird food in the bush visible from the window. They'll watch that for hours!

I have been looking at cat tree thingys. It seems like he likes to climb..

Theyre bloody massive though! No idea where I would put one!
