Cat killing machines

Hi.

My two cats are now about two and have turned into killing machines.

I've saved two mice this week that they were toying with and released them.

There's now one still twitching on the patio, the humane thing to do would be to put it out of its misery.

But I've never killed a thing in my life, and I don't think I can do it. But the mouse is still alive but in its death-throes.

Any ideas?

To be completely open I'm a single-dad so no one to help.

Drop a brick on it.

Poor mouse.

The cats have lost interest in it. And are completely ignoring it.

I thought it was dead, so I had the idea to clear it away later.

But went to check (hoping it had gone) and it was twitching.

I don't think I can drop a brick on it.

In a survival situation I think I'd starve to death, I just can't kill anything.

I'll give it 5 minutes, then a wimps got to do what a wimps got to do.

You can buy bibs to put on cats to stop them being able to hold on to anything they catch. It's the best way to describe them really.

A side effect is that all the prey falls about laughing and the cats come home to sulk.

What about collars with bells? I was concerned about them getting caught on something.

You can use the collars with the safety buckle, it snaps open if if gets caught on anything.

The elastic ones are not as safe, the cat can still get caught and not be able to get away.

Bells didnt work for my most prolific hunter, a 14lb white chinchilla.

Hope I don't get flamed, but a quick squirt of fly spray is a more hands off approach. Bells have helped a bit with mine - 50% reduction in mice, but increase in frogs (guess they don't have ears?!)

How's the mouse - maybe show the cats again? They might finish it off?

Frogs have eardrums goldmum!! why do you think they make such a noise?
