Moved house. My outdoor cat hates being stuck inside - tips?

Hi everyone, my cat is about 2 years old now and very playful still. In my old house she had a cat flap and could go in and out as much as she liked. She has a bell on her collar so has only brought in a few dead mice and no birds.

Anyway, in the new house I'm really worried about letting her out as there are 2 busy roads literally on the door step. I am going to keep her in for 2 weeks and then let her explore outside and hope for the best.

Is there something I can do to stop her being so restless at night in the new house? Good toys etc? She keeps waking me up 4/5 times a night by headbutting me! She's eating fine and using a litter tray and seems ok in herself - I just think she is bored at night.

for the two weeks that she will be in not much you can do about it she will have to be patient lol, one suggestion for when she does go out is would it be possible for someone to build her an outside run, so she could be outside but safe from the roads, saying that we lived right by a main road and my cats were ok they didnt go near the road, what is she like normally is she the sort of cat who will avoid traffic or is she daft enough to go near the road

Thanks Issey6cats, I have thought about a run, but I don't think she would like it to be honest and she likes to go off and explore Sad. My old house was fairly close (maybe 3/4 streets away) from 2 quite busy roads, so I'm hoping she will have some sense.

There is a direction she can go in to avoid the roads so I was going to put cat nip where I'd like her to go and some anti-cat type spray near the road exists if that makes sense? I've also got her a reflective collar and a new ID tag with the vets details on aswell as mine.

I used to live near a very busy road too, I was so nervous about letting my cats out but they just LOVED to sunbathe! I put a plastic net around the tops of the wall/fences of my garden so they could explore a bit but not get out of my garden, I don't know if this would help you in the long term. While she's indoors, the best cat toy I have ever found is the Da Bird, it's from the US and was reccommended to me by a breeder. All my cats go crazy for it, I have to keep it in a drawer or they'd be dragging it around all the time!

I'm looking it up right now1 Today I left the window open for her so she could have a sniff around, She was too scared to get down off the sill and seems happier now and less restless. Like she's decided for herself? Probably reading far too much into it, but she is my brilliant cat, I don't want anything to happen to her!!
