Possible stray comes in when it rains

Hi.

I've just had another visit from a beautiful wee tabby who regularly pops in through our cat flap when it's raining.
'She' (I don't know - but think female) was dripping wet. She allowed me to towel her and she is so skinny.
She seems healthy otherwise - bright eyes, nice coat. But any time it rains she comes in for refuge and I give her a bite to eat and she leaves again. When we went on hols recently we set up a shelter in the back yard for her.
My cat (3 yr old neutered male) wasn't overly borhered tonight - had a look and a sniff then went to his normal spot behind the curtains. But she has come in during the night before and there has been hissing and near-scrapping and she has been chased out.
Should I do anything?
She has no collar on but isn't scraggy/stray looking. But if someone owns her why is she out in the rain?
She seems very young - really small but long-legged.
Should I contact RSPCA/vet in case she's missing?
She's been around for about 6 weeks.
I would keep her/ look after her if she stopped but she always makes a hasty exit as soon as the rain stops.

I've also had a stray in my kitchen tonight as it was raining! To be fair though, I think mine thinks it lives here now as it's been living in my garden for months; she was really timid at first, but now comes in and has a cuddle then goes back out. Tonight she let me close the door and settled down on the mat for 30 mins until she miaowed to go out again!

She could well have an owner- lots of cats don't wear collars and lots of owners consider them unsafe.

I occasionally saw our old cat sitting in other people's kitchen windows, looking out smugly at me! I also had a phone call to remove him from the pub, discovered he frequented the kebab shop on a Friday night, and had a whole host of houses that he "visited" And yes, he was well fed and looked after, he just seemed to like to visit other places (where they would feed him, the fat greedy bastard)

Lol Jooly, I seem to get lots of 'stray' cats in my garden! I seriously doubt they are, they just know where the mad Catwoman who will fuss them lives! :)

Take her to a vets and ask them to check to see if she is microchipped. They won't charge for this (I don't think!!).

It really worries me how many people seem to assume that if a cat doesn't have a collar they must be a stray. I know people who have lost cats for months on end because they wandered and were taken in by well meaning strangers who didn't think to see if they were chipped.

PLEASE ALWAYS CHECK. My cats don't wear collars as we adopted them from a rescue aged 5 and 6. They had never worn collars before and we simply couldn't get them to wear them. They both go psychotic and terrified and think they're being strangled. They are however microchipped but I live in fear of them going missing and being found by someone who doesn't gettheir chip checked.

I have a visitor in bad weather. He's just a chancer. He's old so looks slightly 'rough' but I put a paper collar on him and his owner called me. He lives a few houses away!

The more I see of her (she comes back regularly) the more I think someone owns her.

She still pops in when it rains and sometimes when it's not raining.
I think she likes the selection of nice food our spoilt boy has out.
She's just been in again tonight and she came and gave me a wee leg rub before she left.
We often have cat-flap visitors - I was worried cause she always seems to be out in the rain.
My cat doesn't wear a collar either but he's chipped. I hope if he's ever really lost it'll be obvious to someone and they'll check him.

Interesting, I was just about to post with a similar question. Random cat has appeared in my front room, presented himself for a fuss and is currently sleeping on my knee. He has an old flea collar on, but is awfully dirty and bony. I'll have to check if he belongs to one of the neighbors. I don't mind him coming in as long as my cat & dog don't mind, but I don't fancy any fleas!

Oh no. I just found out that his owner suddenly died! Poor guy!

awww poor cat looks like hes picked you and simple flea spray treatment for both cats would sort out flea problem i couldnt turn him away bless him
