I posted yesterday, my cat was hit by a car on sat night, x-ray showed a broken tail (quiet close to the base) and he is resting in a cage. Yesterday evening he seemed to perk up a little and was meowing to get out of the cage, i let him out for a cuddle and then let him sleep in the bathroom (as thats where he always sleeps and he wouldn't settle in the cage). I gave him his pain killers this morning and he ate a bit of breakfast but now he's very still, led in his cage and even if i open the cage door he shows no sign of wanting to come out or move, he's refusing food but had a tiny bit of milk (i know milks not great for them but it was refusing everything else).

The thing i'm really worried about is the fact he hasn't been for a poo sinse the accident, i'm worried there may be internal injuries or other injuries other than his tail. He has been for a wee (just twice but he has been). He looks so sorry for himself Sad, is there anything else i can do for him? i'm worried as we are going away tomorrow and leaving my brother to look after the cat, if he had been for a poo i would be less worried, its going to be hard leaving him like this Sad.

Any advice please? is it normal for him to be like this after a tail break?

Why dont you pm lizcat? maybe his meds are making him constipated?

Marne · 20/05/2012 16:55

Thanks Fluffy, i might do that, i think she has helped me in the past (last time poor Iggy was poorly).

Oh no Sad.

What has the vet said to do?

Marne · 20/05/2012 17:05

The vet said to keep him caged and take him back if he has not poo'd by tuesday Sad, i thought he would be a bit more purky than he is (hate seeing him sad), they only x-rayed his tail and pelvis so i'm worried there may be other things going on. We will see how he is in the morning, i could always pop him to the vets before we go away (trouble is the vets bill is getting bigger and bigger).
