my old boy is 16/17 years neutered when he was 5 months old, but the little git has recently taken to spraying up everything in the house and i mean everything, doors, windows, wall, fireplace, sofa, toys, clothes, dare not leave a coat hanging off the back of a chair basically everything is wet and smelly he has been to the vets couple of weeks ago to rule out uti, we do have other cats all neutered too they dont spray at all, anyone have any ideas why he would suddenly start this, im beginning to dislike having him in the house at the moment as he just walks in and sprays Angry

Maybe it is just old age.

Have you tried feliway spray? if I spray it somewhere our cat loses interest in it.

has anything else changed? is he still eating/drinking ok? any weight loss? any big changes in the household? my 16 yr old male cat (neutered) started weeing everywhere as well, & he ended up being diagnosed with an overactive thyroid a few months ago

apparently it is pretty common in older cats

other things the vet wanted to rule out were kidney failure & diabetes (again v common in elderly cats)

the vet did a lot of blood tests which cost an eyewatering amount of ££££ but it was worth it in the end to get a diagnosis & put an end to the constant weeing

We also have a feliway plugin (for other reasons), not sure if it works or not, although I know others have had great success with them

the other thing my vet said is to get at least one extra litter tray put down for the cats whenever there is any spraying/urination problem - in case it is a stress-related/territorial thing
