My cat's gone missing : (

My fluffy little girl disappeared yesterday afternoon and it's been raining all night. She's an indoor cat and a bit soft, not streetwise at all so I'm thinking the worst. I need to sit down with a map and work out which houses belong to all the gardens around us so I can do leaflets now. There are so many missing cat posters round here, it's really depressing!

We eventually got some posters up and a couple from way down the road have come up to say they found a cat that had been run over last weekend. We're pretty sure it's her but are going to see if we can get the body scanned for the microchip to be definate. I had a feeling she had died last weekend but can't believe how far away she was. She was such a pretty and gentle girl Sad.

Oh natural. I'm so sorry. when this happened to us I did have a sense of relief in that we knew what had happened and weren't looking any more. Saying that though I was devastated that we had lost her.

I know exactly how you feel.

Oh I am so sorry. It is dreadful losing a cat like that. Very sad news, your poor cat.

YardBroom · 20/05/2012 22:03

oh i am so sorry to hear this. I have been watching and hopeing your thread would bring good news. Sad Sad

The only small comfort you can take is that you will know what happened if it is her, and not been forever wondering and looking.

xx

So sorry NaturalSadSad

Thankyou so much for your thoughts. It's such a heartbreaking thing to go through, I don't know how anybody copes with the loss of a friend/relative.
So now we have the body and I'm trying to find the right spot in the garden. We've got a couple of cardboard boxes to try but she's well wrapped in plastic bags and I don't want to mess around with her too much so we're not sure what to do?

I am so sorry natural. If you wanted to you could take her to the vets to be cremated and have her ashes?

naturalbaby · 21/05/2012 22:49

I thought about it but am going for the eco option! We just wanted to get on with it today but couldn't find the right spot in the garden, I'm just not sure whether to take her out the bags or not - don't want to if we don't need to but am happy to do it if it's better if that makes sense.

Have you already seen her out of the bags so to speak? (sorry). If you have I would be inclined to take her out if you can.

naturalbaby · 22/05/2012 11:05

We opened it enough to check it was her, so not the injury. I think we'll just get lots of newspaper out to keep her covered then pull the plastic away. We just need to find a good spot to dig deep enough now. I wish our other cat was a bit more sociable, we only ever see him at night when the kids are in bed!

Yes, newspaper is a good idea. How are you feeling natural, are you ok? I sort of had a mixture of relief that she was found, calmness that we were not looking any more, but just very sad she was gone.

naturalbaby · 22/05/2012 21:24

Yes, I feel just the same. Maybe it hasn't sunk in yet because I've been so busy with day to day family life. She's now safely tucked up in the corner of the garden with a big pot planter on top. I'm so glad we got her back, the couple down the road were so lovely about the whole thing as well.

A couple down the road found our little cat. I sent them a thank you card because if it wasn't for them we would still be wondering.

It is definitely a mixture of emotions. x
