Cat friendly carpet

Hi

Just wondering what type of carpets people with cats have or would recommend? I've been in my current house for 2 years and the carpet was already fitted but the stairs carpet has seen better days and I'm looking to replace it, but it is a woven type carpet and the cats have put a few pulls in it. I've heard that woollen carpets are not ideal? So if anyone can recommend some hard wearing cat friendly carpet I would be grateful :)

We have two cats. One in particular loved to shred our wool carpet in the hall -the most expensive carpet we had. Other shorter pile synthetic carpets she seemed to leave alone.

We have now had laminate put down in most of the house - we found it difficult to deal with the fur from our other long-haired cat. We have a few rugs - the cats don't seemed to be touching those.
