Baby names....

Following on from losing my bengal to FIP, kids and i wanted to get another cat, so took advice from my vet and started looking for kittens that will be ready for re-homing about a month after he was pts... and have been bleaching the whole house in the interim.... its never been so clean Blush

Decided not to go for another pure breed, as I had previously had moggies with no health problems whatsoever, and losing a young kitten to FIP was awful...

I found a couple of really cute babies advertised as ready at about the right time, and all being well they'll be coming home soon but I need help with names....

They are both girls, and very very cute grey tabbies - semi long hair, cross breeds and I have absolutely no inspiration whatsoever.... My DD is trying to come up with ideas, but so far nothing that we can agree on....

Much as I love chocolate, I can not name them cadbury and galaxy (her latest suggestion)....

All suggestions welcome..... we're all really excited and want them home - its like waiting for Christmas... every day is too long....

Beryl and Mrs Beans are high on our list. But we veer towards the silly- what's your taste? Tasteful? Phoebe and Josey. Or Tilly?

SparkyTGD · 03/05/2012 11:02

To go with your DD's ideas, could you name them Wispa & Buttons? Chocolately but cute too Grin

Has she got any books with cats in them that you could use the names?

Sparklingbrook · 03/05/2012 11:03

Coco

Sparklingbrook · 03/05/2012 11:04

Ooh sorry you need 2

Everyone on MN is getting a kitten at the moment. Envy

Pelvicflooragogo · 03/05/2012 15:04

We're not sparklingbrook! We're aiming for a rescue cat -young adult probably - probably in June. Really excited as have not owned a cat myself as an adult and it's taken a lot of persuading DH!

Pascha · 03/05/2012 15:09

Continuing the sweets theme you could have Truffle and Bonbon.

Pascha · 03/05/2012 15:10

What have you dismissed so far?

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 03/05/2012 15:39

Thanks all...

Negotiations will continue later..... Not sure about the sweet theme

My previous cats have been

Merry (girl)
Mungo (girl)
Bumble (boy)
Dizzy (boy)

So not sure what we will end up with - am seeing them for the first time today so that may help Smile

But nothing too girly for my taste.... Already stopped DD buying pink collars for them Wink

peaches and cream

Pelvic Sparkling Cat was 3 years old when we had her, and she has been fab. Grin I do wonder what she was like as a kitten though.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/05/2012 16:29

I read somewhere cats name should be short, something to do with them learning them.

I like names I dont feel humilliated shouting out at 10.30 at night.

Tilly.
Meg.
Livvy.
Pippa.

Pelvicflooragogo · 03/05/2012 17:10

Doughnut
Porridge
Brenda
Sadie
Jezebel
Dumpling

Excited for you seeing them!

That's great sparkling - hoping to have home visit soon. Have my eye on a couple of ladies...

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 03/05/2012 23:15

Thanks all

We did think about kitty and Meg but have settled on Stripes and Swirls

They're both tabby but Swirls is marble and Stripes is stripey

They're younger than I thought though Sad not 6 weeks till Saturday and 3 of 5 were already rehomed earlier in the week

I brought them home as, if I hadn't they would have gone somewhere else just as early (I know that's not good but they'll get plenty of love and attention to help them as they grow)....

And they are healing the heartbreak of losing our Bengal too Grin
