Cat walking with a limp

My cat is limping on his front left leg. He started limping about 10pm last night. The only thing that we can think of that might have caused it is that he may have trapped his leg under my DD's bedroom door. It was closed and he was lying on the floor directly outside the door trying to get in. DD opened her door to see what was going on and we think his leg might have been underneath it at the time. He didn't cry out in pain or anything but we noticed immediately that he was limping.

I have checked his leg and I can't see anything obvious. It doesn't seem to hurt him when I touch it. He can still jump okay and walk and run but just has this limp. I have monitored it throughout the day and it seemed to go at one point. But he has just woken up from a long sleep and he is now limping again.

Should I take him to the vet? As I say it doesn't appear to be bothering him and I can't see anything wrong. Do you think he might have just bruised it a little?

My kitten hurt her tail a little while ago. I really don't know how she did it,but it was bent about 2 inches from the end. No pain on touching, and a little nobble there when I had a feel.

She hung her tail for a day...then swished it the next day.

A few days later...it was straight again.

i was going to rush her to the vets..but wise MNetters' advised me to wait as it was probably just bruised.

Give it a bit of time if no pain maybe? but hey...I am a novice.

pinot will be along Smile

I'd take him to the vet.

Mine was limping, I took him in the morning and she gave him a painkilling injection and some 'cat calpol' to get him over it, he was fine after the weekend.

Mine didn't react when we felt the leg BTW so I assume it was 'stiff' rather than acutely painful.

Mine was limping last Friday. Took him to the vet and his left humerus was completely broken and it had to be pinned by the orthopaedic surgeon.
I've no idea how he did it. The vet says he would have been in a lot of pain.

I would say vets just to be on the safe side.

One of ours limped once and it was a big abcess from fighting. Fine one day, limping the next.

It's all or nothing with cats isnt it?
