The cat died on my knee!

So I just wrote this out but the monsoons seem to have ruined my internet connection........... so here I go again!

I am overseas and my friend was going to Spain for a two week holiday. As her two elderly cats had not been too good I offered to go over once a week and check on them. First week, no problems, got a great photo of a very grupmy cat under the bed, scowls and everything! This week I went and the housekeeper met me with said cat comfortably curled up in a basket. But she hadn't drunk, eaten or gone to the litter tray since the day before. She seemed ok but looked up at me and was a tiny bit sick but not distressed. So I deceided to ring the vet who said to bring her in. I got my friend's driver to take us and halfway there, the cat died on my knee Shock. I was half horrified and half content that I was there and she was having cuddles and kisses when it happened. But what a shock! Ironically I have had, in the last 15 years, to take 4 of my own fur babies to be PTS, (always adopt elderly rescue cats) but here I am having a cat go just the way I have always wanted but it's not mine! Still, rest in peace little 'B', 18 years old, bless you .

It was lovely she had with you at the end, hope you are Ok.

I'm so glad she was with you and not on her own. Sounds like it was peaceful at least.

My cat got run over (by DP in the driveway Sad) and he died in my arms. Awful though it was, I would have preferred that to him get run over in the road and be left on his own to die.

Pinkiemum' thank you, I am ok now, especially now my friend has returned and is still talking to me (joke, well sort of), and BodyOfEeyore, I do understand what you mean, it's the thought that they would be alone and scared which upsets us, which pretty much reflects the way we wouldn't want to go. And, yes, it was very peaceful, so much so that I think she had been gone about 5 minutes before I realised! I just kept stroking her and rabbiting on, then suddenly thought, oh no Sad!
