how long should you wait before being concerned about missing cat

my outdoor cat has been gone since sunday morning so 3 full days. hes wandered before but not for so long. He usually comes back early evening for food and a snuggle before heading out at 5am again every night. We live near a big park, and quite a few roads.

I'm kicking myself, he's due for his boosters and was planning on getting him chipped at the same time. Why didn't i do this before. He's the biggest, softest lump and I miss him.

How long should I wait before phoning vets? I'll probably go out looking tonight when the kids are in bed. Would go today but his hang out spots are not pushchair friendly at all :(

Can you put some posters up on lamp posts with your number? in the meantime.

Then if anyone has seen him they can let you know.

I hope he turns up. Ours has only been gone for a day or two before, when we moved house...negotiating her territory I think. So I'd be concerned x

i dont have a printer at home, My DH will make some up if he's not back tomorrow.

Made a call to environmental health and they havent picked anything up :( so thats a relief.

bloody cats. I just keep thinking of when I was pregnant with my DD and Hob kept cuddling into my stomach and getting kicked constantly. Miss the daft lump.

Sad you must miss him. Cats are very important, I know...despite pushing ours off the bed all night when she wants to get involved in what we're doing, and then she starts with her 5am ritual of trying to kill the rug, we wouldn't be without her.

I really, really hope your lad turns up soon.

thanks, so do i. my main concern is the fox that lives in the park. Hob is scared of it but would try to fight it if he came across it.

if it was my cat i probably wouldn't have even noticed yet Blush

he did go missing for 2 weeks once, i put posters up asking people to check garages/sheds etc, after a week a lady phoned to say that she had just opened the door to the house she was looking after while the owners were on holiday and a massive black cat has come shooting out.
he turned up one night covered in ticks i think he had got disorientated as the house was just down the road.

anyhoo, don't worry too much yet, with the nice weather he might be off having a walkabout. i'd give it a few more days before calling vets. there are also missing pet websites you could put a notice on.
