Neighbourhood cat

I have three cats, two girls and a boy. All have been neutered.

For the last week or so one of them (I think the boy) has been weeing inside the house, normally on the front door mat but also in the living room.

We have also caught a neighbourhood cat in the house (whilst my 3 are asleep on the sofa!)

Could this cat be why he is weeing? Does anyone have any tips on how I can stop it coming in and also what I can use to deter mine from weeing?

How is the interloper getting in? I imagine it makes your cats uncomfortable that something is disturbing the status quo.
Recently Fab has been posting about her elderly cat who pees. She's had lots of good advice about removing the smell.
Look out her posts and good luck.

It comes through our cat flap.
Thanks I will check out Fab's posts.

You need to do something about that then. If your cats are chipped, there is a sort of flap you can get that reads them and only admits the chipped ones.

Cat's aren't chipped.
Also to be even more awkward I don't have a utility room to be able to restrict them to at night and during the day so the flap comes straight into the living room.
I will have to look into a new flap I guess.

it's almost certain that your cat is weeing because of the intruder. I'm guessing you will need to find a way to stop him coming in, sorry. And I would say better to act quickly or your cat might continue to do it just in case. if he still does it once the interloper is kept out, you could try feliway (diffuser or spray) to try to deter him from weeing, but the longer it goes on the harder the habit will be to break. Good luck.

One of ours weed on the bed just before we bit the bullet and got a microchip catflap, and a while later I realised there was an interesting stain all up the conservatory radiator as well ... they were definitely very stressed by at least one neighbouring cat coming in. We've had no problems since we've had the new flap. And I swear we're not going through cat food as fast either, funny that ...

Thanks will have to look into getting them chipped and the flap. I feel that may be expensive!

Will look into sprays too.

Thanks all
