A spinach and cheese tortellini and a large slice of sponge birthday cake, complete with jam, butter cream and pink icing. Last night she finished my Thai green chicken curry, includIng bits of chilli. She seems fine. What inappropriate things do yours eat?

We used to have a high fibre cat - loved baked beans and sweetcorn, and never said no to custard either!

Sweet chilli crisps, which made him suck his teeth for a while.

He once had a go at mustard, but that made him miouw loudly!

He once sniffed a lit candle before we could stop him! Singed his whiskers a bit...

We don't feed him these things, he just knows when is the best opportunity to go for it!

Mine is passionate about donuts. If you're eating one, she'll sneak up behind you and take a bite. She also loves muesli. She hangs around while I'm eating, miaouwing plaintively until I put the bowl down for her to finish the last bits. Oh, and dried apricots! She'll nab one, hold it between her front paws and nibble away at it.

One of mine is very picky, started off eating only dry food but has extended his range to include ham, tuna and chicken. His brother will give anything a try. Baked bean juice and cream of tomato soup licked from the tins are his speciality. A few weeks back I let him have Japanese curry sauce off my plate - wouldn't normally let him lick a plate, but I wanted to see what he made of it. He was very enthusiastic for a while before suddenly looking appalled, and spending the next few minutes furiously licking his lips before going for a big drink.

One of mine steals bread & butter off any plate left unattended.

Westcountrylovescheese · 17/02/2012 20:29

Oh, I forgot. He is a coffee addict. Absolutely loves it.... If you leave an empty cup around he will try and lick the sides to get the taste.

I once had a cat who felt that if it fell on the floor, that was HIS domain, and he'd be eating it.

Mostly it just meant he got potato peelings.

One of my cats loves celery and peas. She once jumped up at my mum's plate to nick the celery leaves. Left behind the fish...

My late cat loved salt and vinegar pringles. She would appear at your side within seconds as soon as she heard that 'pop' and she'd climb up your head to get at them.

one of my cats likes cheese and tomato pizza which I discovered when I went to answer the phone and left my plate for a few seconds . . .

Girl cat: anything dairy in particular yogurt. OH has resorted to pouring yogurt in to a bowl to eat it in peace. While normal very shy she will physically attack you to get to the yogurt pot.
Boy cat: anything spicy, chilli, curry anything.

One Xmas day we had a big joint of Lamb, and DH left the string from around the joint on the side, as we put the plates back in the kitchen we caught the cat with string in mouth sucking it up like spaghettim cue much yelling from DH at cat who was then streaking round the house, behind the sofa, up the xmas tree, whilst trying to furiously finish spaghetti sucking the string up that was flying everywhere just so DH couldn't get it off her, I have never seen a cat look so smug just as DH moved sofa and the final milimeter of string disappeared into her mouth! The rest of us were sobbing with laughter!!

We used to have a big bruiser of a cat who worked out how to open the fridge door. In one night he ate 3 mackeral and a chicken curry. I was far from happy and bought childlocks.

I regularly have to fend off attacks from over my shoulder when I am eating crisps, from both felines.

Girl cat loves slightly spicier things- will happily steal chilli or arrabiata coated pasta. Boy prefers creamier things.

To be fair, both of them will try anything given half a chance.
