Road salt/grit is dangerous to cats - beware

I didnt know this but apparently the salt the gritters spray on the road can be poision to cats, saw a report from the blue cross about it. So be careful if your cats are out and snow has been forecast. Apparently they get it on their paws and fur and then groom themselves.

I think salt (rather than grit) is quite bad for the environment all round, not just for cats. It's actually been banned where we live in Germany and you can be quite heavily fined for using it instead of sand or grit. It leaks into the earth and destroys the soil (or summat like that).
