Which cat should I punish?

Bloody fucking cats. One of them, and I don't know which, went into my bedroom and did a huge shit on some dirty washing. I discovered my lovely treat when I went to get the washing to put it in the machine.
Both went out immediately after their breakfast, both came in at the same time.
A handful of warm cat shit does not make a good start to the morning. I suspect ginge because he was trying to cover the stains on the carpet Angry but it was pointless. Fresh air doesn't even come close to it.
No idea how to punish them, just wanting to vent.

Too late, no point. I do recall the old "rub their nose in it" train of thought but that's surely any good if caught in the act.
How annoying though.

sadly, any punishment will do no good and could actually make the situation worse. but then you know that really OP and i completely understand you wanting to strangle the little sod!

its horrid then they do it but there is always a reason behind it, be it medical or behavioural, its just up to us to find out what it is and solve it.

problems with the litter tray? stress in the relationship between the two cats? has something frightened him outside?

scrub your carpet with biological washing powder to remove the smell and try to remain calm.

{grin] I know I can't punish either of them, it's far too late. I would only have shouted anyway. I can't see any point in rubbing noses in their soilage.
The only reason I can think of is ginge is a lazy little sod. He normally goes to the toilet in the borders to the left of the back door. Greyhead goes to the other end of the garden. It was really windy and rainy this morning. Grey had been gone a lot longer than ginge when they both strolled in.
Ho hum, at least I've got a washing machine and it wasn't clean washing.
