Kitten in heat - what to do?

Hi

Just this minute noticed my 5 1/2 month old kitten is in heat (crouching etc) Should I keep her separated from her brother?

She's getting spayed in 1 week's time - is there anything else I can do to potentially stop spraying etc?

Def keep her away from her brother. DH decided that our boy/girl combo didn't need to be doctored because they are siblings.
I had to gently point out that cats don't have the revulsion about incest that humans do.
