my beautiful cat Ollie died this morrning, she had been unwell for the past week and past away in her sleep, I am glad that she is finally free from pain but am absoloutly beside myself, and have already been inundated with comments such as "its just a cat" and "buy another one". Why can't people see that I don't want another one I want Ollie Sad

Sorry that my first post here is aa sad one

How lovely that she went on her own without needing any help. You will miss her very much, I still miss every cat I have lost.

I'm so sorry OP, you too April.

We lost our dear 14 year old in 2010 and it hurt like hell. Our Oscar is 18 soon and has health issues, I will be distraught when he goes.

I lost my second cat in November. I miss him dreadfully. When I got home last night a ginger cat came out from under my gate. My heart leapt for a moment and then I remembered.

I'm glad for you that Ollie died at home. The alternative is just too awful.

Sending you an un-MN hug.

Ollie wasnt just a cat. She was your cat xx

All your lovely replies have really helped so thank you.

I had a really tough day yesterday and the dogs have been very quiet so I think they are missing her too, the vets just rang with the results of her tests, she had liver failure so there wasn't anything that could be done to help her so Iam even more grateful that she passed away peacefully in her bed at home

It's devastasting when an pet dies. Ours passed away and i was blindsided by the grief. It does get easier but it is very sad. Hugs. xx

really sorry to hear about Ollie, smiling. I can understand how you must feel, as you say cats become part of your family.

No such thing as "only" any pet. Angry

It sounds as though Ollie had a wonderful life and a quiet, dignified death. As a pet owner you can't aspire to give them anything better than that. Hope you can enjoy your happy memories, OP.

I'm so sorry for your loss :(

Be glad that Ollie died peacefully at home, you couldn't ask for more than that.

I know how hard it is, I've been there, two of my cats have died so far, the pain is immense, however i can now look back and smile when i remember them, thier antics and thier silly ways.

Be glad for the fun times u had with Ollie, she sounds amazing xxxx
