my cat has got the hump with me

my 10 month old male cat has really got the hump - he turns his back on me at every opportunity and if he see's me put my hand out to stroke him he walks off! What can I do?

Do you think he's feeling neglected because i've been fussing over a new kitten?

He used to be so affectionate - what can I do to win his love back

Little buggers aren't they, such sensitive creatures too.

I'd say keep showing him you love him, talk to him, offer tid-bits he likes, maybe a fresh cat-nip toy if he likes 'nip' and let him come to you for strokes etc when he's ready.

Apply the toddler treatment I'd say and ignore the 'hump' but let him know he's still loved and important to you.

Mine get like this sometimes (usually jealousy) and I swear they love being pandered to for a few days while giving the appearance of 'am I bovvered'?

Bit like sulky teenagers really :)
