Kitty is 18 months old and we've had her for a year. Soon after we got her I noticed she walked down the stairs funny - she kind of bunny hops down with her back legs together. She walked fine the rest of the time. I asked on here about it at the time and got some replies from people saying their cats also did this and its nothing to worry about so never thought anymore about it.
For maybe the past 6 weeks she's been reluctant to use the cat flap though she does if she needs to. However if someoen is about she prefers to sit by the back door and glare at you to open it, I just put it down to laziness.
Then last week she started limping on her back, left leg, At some times she's hopping on three legs, then she'll put it down and walk a bit awkwardly, almost twisted, then seems ok again and then maybe a bit later will limp a bit.
So I took her to the vet, this was beginning of last week. So nearly 2 weeks now. Vet examined her, doesnt think she's been hit by a car, doesn't think anything is dislocated or broken and said she's probably got a sprain. She gave us some metcam stuff which is an antiinflammatory medecine. Well it hasn't helped, I would say if anything she's a bit worse. Again its not all the time, last night she seemed fine. This morning she's hopping about on three legs.
She's due to go back to the vet next week. Is there anything I should be pushing for? Vet said that some cats can sometimes get arthiritis and the bunny hopping is a common symptom when they have it. But isn't she young for that?
