Our cat is driving me nuts

She is 9 and spends her day either asleep on the sofa or asleep under a bush.
She will not go into the utility room on her own(where her food is).....i have to walk in with her and sort of point to her bowl before she will eat.
She has taken to running frantically upstairs if she sees us sometimes, and last night about midnigt I heard her run up and down the stairs about a dozen times.

Is this normal behaviour or is she strange?

All sounds normal cat behaviour to me Smile. I have a cat who has to be constantly 'shown' where his food is. It's just a cunning plan to get me near his food bowl so I'll pile it high with tuna or something other than the dried food he has. He also has (although not so much these days as he's getting old) mad half hours when he just runs about with his ears back and a ridiculous expression on his face! So I wouldn't worry about your cat, it's all normal iME.
