do cats get dandruff?.....

when i brush my cat she has white bits on her fur. she has been recently flee treated, can't see any of those brown buggers hopping around when i look closely under her fur. i am a new cat owner so am learning still.....thanks for your help

Not as such, so dont get the head and shoulders out yet.

But they can get skin problems so if it persists I'd go to the vets.

no, she doesn't scratch much, barely at all actually. i brush her hair alot as she has a long coat and i am allergic to cats.....!! :)

One of my cats sometimes gets white bits on her fur that looks like dandruff. She's got a lot of black fur so it was very obvious. For some reason, it seems to depend on which brand of food I give her. There were a couple of big name brands that seemed to aggravate the condition. When I stopped feeding her those, it cleared up. I did try going back to one of the brands but the 'dandruff' reappeared . Might be coincidence but, since changing food, she's clear.

alegre - can you share which product may have been the cause?.....was it wiskas?

Sorry! Had a busy weekend and just read this. Yes, it was paisleyII. The other one that affected her was Felix. She's not had a problem since I stopped feeding her these 2. Shame 'cos those 2 brands are the ones that are usually on special offer. I tend to buy supermarkets' own brands now.
As I said, it might all be a coincidence but I did stop and start on the brands and it did all seem to tie in with my cat's condition. Of course, it might not be the same case for everyone.
