Cats and burglar alarms

What do you do if you have a burglar alarm? Can you not set it when you go out? We have sensors at various places in the house and I'm imagining the cat setting off the alarm!

Call your alarm people to help. Usually motion sensors are set high enough to ignore cats walking. We have cats and an alarm and no worries.

We have just had our alarm upgraded as it was a bit dodgy. The company installed two "pet sensors" in the areas where the cats are allowed, so we just have to remember which doors to shut before we go out!! They used to have the run of the house but the sensors were quite expensive (£50 each) so we just put them in the hallway and kitchen and the existing system's sensors work alongside it.

When we bought our flat, we upgraded the alarms. On taking down the motion sensors, we noticed they all had a strip of white electricians tape along the bottom of the 'window'. We were very Confused but then realised it was because the previous owner had a little dog, and this avoided him setting off the sensor.
