Adoration or is he just some sort of perv?

My kitten (7 months old) tries to drink my bath water every time I have a bath. He doesn't do this to any other member of the family, just me.Confused
Since we first got him at 10 weeks, he has always insisted on being in the bathroom when I am in, I've tried closing the door, but he has a temper tantrum and then somebody opens the door for him.
He used to just sit on the side or curl around my head at the top of the bath, but now he has started leaning in and drinking hot bath water, its yuk.

Last night I deliberately ran a shallow bath, so he wouldn't be able to reach and he fell inGrin

I thought cats hated water, but then again, I thought cats were aloof and he is certainly not that. He even watches me in the shower in a morning, lies on the bath mat, face pressed against the shower door.
Why does he do this, is it normal cat behaviour, or is he a cat perv with a fetish for women's bath water?Wink

My Mum's cat does this. He also gets into the bath and sits on her tummy as if he were on a desert island. He has fallen in many times and remains undeterred. Your kitten is obviously very fond of you Smile

Completely normal in my experience of two cats!

ColdSancerre · 09/11/2011 09:54

Normal. Cats always supervise humans in the bathroom. They tend to be fascinated with water going down plug holes and flushing loos.

MrsDanverclone · 09/11/2011 11:23

I would never have guessed this about cats!
He wasn't even that bothered last night when he got wet, I'd hoped it would put him off.
And yes every trip to the loo is supervised by him as wellConfused

does he look down it when it flushes, that's a favourite trick of my kitten. That and drinking out of the pan....

MrsDanverclone · 09/11/2011 11:57

Yes sospanfach, I'm often attempting to close the loo lid, on a nosey kitten who doesn't need to know that much, about my bodily functionsGrin

ah...all fun and games. I remember one particularly amusing time when I really did have the genuine FLU and was in bed for a week. Everytime I overheated I was sick, and EVERY time, the cat would accompany me to the bathroom and watch with interest. Talk about micromanagement Confused

Grin sospanfach.

I can't shut my cat out of the bathroom. He just howls miserably until I let him in

spanky2 · 12/11/2011 12:59

Same as my kitty. I also found muddy footprints in the toilet bowl, from him having a drink. YUCK!

QOD · 12/11/2011 13:10

yeah my boy Mutley comes in and sits on my jelly belly when I am in the bath. He drinks the bath water too - and sticks his head down the loo!
Gross little beast

One of our old cats (rip Oscar) used to get in the bath with you and kind of swim about v happily. He used to jump in the car too and stretch out on the parcel shelf. He came to visit mil several times with us like that. God, I loved that cat, although he was completely wackadoodle...

TalkinPeace2 · 12/11/2011 18:21

and chasing the drips from the leaky tap ....

SmellslikeDEMONcatspee · 14/11/2011 15:12

Our morning routine, who every stumbles in to the bathroom first makes sure lid is down on loo and turn cold tap on very slightly, within a minute or so Boy cat will came running in , will first play with the water for about 5 minutes or so then have a drink.

He then advises OH on how to shave correctly from his perch on the loo., and checks that he has showered correctly by watching him from the loo seat.
He then reports to me.

He prefers to sit in the sink when I?m showering as he is a perv and gets a better view from than angle, and then helps out by drying my ankles (covering them with hair. . . )

Dependant on mood he will then either sit in the wet/ damp shower for at least half an hour or if it isn't steamy enough go back to bed.

So in other words normal

Redrubyblue · 14/11/2011 15:34

My cat used to climb into the bath with me until I bought one of those racks that go across the bath and then he would sit on that enveloped in steam.

He also loved the steam from cups of tea, coffee and the kettle, once he burnt the inside of his nose with the steam from the kettle and spent the next 24 hours sneezing every two minutes.

He also was another 'poo' watcher. He had to watch every flush and I mean every flush. Our visitors were a bit Hmm about it sometimes.
