What's the best type of breed of cat to have with kids?

I want a cat that is laid back in the extreme. DH not a fan so I want something that isn't likely to scratch and cause havoc (have DD's for the latter so no more havoc needed) - a lapcat ideally.

I think it's very much the nature of the cat and what your home is like overall, rather than the actual breed itself.
We have a bengal, I remember people telling us we were mad to get one when dc were so small as they can be hyper and jumpy etc. Our girl is the soppiest, cuddliest most tolerant cat I've ever met. She is 7 now and has never once scratched or bitten anyone, she loves getting carried around and cradled or snuggling into you wherever you sit down and is always cuddling in to one of us and giving kisses every night.

What you need is a ZOMBIE cat to go with the 5 year old thread.

I don't have a zombie cat - but I do have a vampire one. Will he do for now?

Absolutely definitely not good with children!

I would suggest going to a rescue.

We got our first cat (a tortoise shell) from a Facebook seller, not getting to know her before we purchased her, we probably wouldn't have brought her because she is evil but of course we love her like part of the family.

Our second (a male tabby) we got from a rescue and we wandered around for over an hour with all the cats and fell in love with him and came to realise how friendly he was and well he would fit into our family.
