need advise bout my poorly kitty

Ok so yesterday at 10.30am my 18month old kitty had an accident with a tv :( she knocked it off the stand somehow and it landed on her head :( i rushed her to the vet and i really thought she wud die but her gave her an anti-inflamatory and said the next 48 hrs are critical , well that was 36hrs ago and she is due back in the morning, already she has gone from a semi consious limp state to walking,eating and drinking with lots of encouragement from her mummy ! she has some stiffness in one leg and i suspect visual trouble but i'm so pleased with how wll she has done so far i dont want to give up on her , i'm just terrified the vet will say she wont recover :( she is my lil baby and i am totally prepared to do wotever it takes to get her well again . i have 4 months before i have my first baby and i guess really i'm just wondering if i could get most of her rehab done before my attention is devided between her and my newborn :( any advice or sucess stories would be greatly received :(

well it sounds like she is doing well, so fingers crossed vet will confirm that tomorrow for you.

is it a flat tv? if so it might be worth investing in one of those strap things you can get to tie them to the stand?

it was an old and rather large tv , i was surprised she even managed to move it let alone knock it over she isnt exactly a big cat , hopefully it was just a glancing blow and she will recover

Oh that is terrible, I hope she is continuing to recover. You must be feeling very shocked and upset. As thisisyesterday said it might be worth "cat-proofing" (and baby-proofing) your home a little so that there are no heavy objects on stands to be knocked on top of your cat or your baby in the future! Wishing you and your cat all the best.

yes i was in a bit of a state wen it happened Fluffball :( the tv is now gone and anything else thats heavy or unstable . the vet seems to think she should be ok but her recovery will take time she is much better, she is still circling but only wen she gets stressed like at the vets or if we hav visitors so no visitors for a couple of weeks, but i am hopeful the problems has are temperary, horners syndrome is an issue rite now which just means her nerve endings to her left eye and ear are damaged but likely to repair themselves in time , she does seem to set off round the front room on a mission then just stops midstride as if she forgot were she was going but a gentle nudge seems to kick her back into gear. i will keep you posted on her progress she has a check up in 3 weeks so heres hopin she is almost back to her old self by then :) Thank you both for replying :)

Aw I'm so sorry, I hope she gets well soon.

Its been quite a while since her accident and a slow but steady rate of progress just yesterday she played for the first time in over a year and the forgetfulness is getting less and less these days, for a long time she would just sit staring into space then circle but now she waks around and chases her sister, the vet did say she had some blindness in one eye and deafness in one ear but on her last checkup confirmed what i already knew she can now see a little but she is still deaf in one ear he said this could also improve with time but its unlikley now. I am often amazed at how well she has recovered since if a human had sustained the level of head trauma that she did hte human would come off much much worse.
