Panic - my cat is missing

Last seen this morning when she walked dd2 part of the way to school. The cat flap was left shut - I forgot to check it was open and dh didn't either before he left. Dd2 came home at 4 and the rest of us at 5 but she hasn't appeared. This is very unlike her. I am scared something has happened to her. Dd1 has walked all round our are looking for her - no sign.
She is so friendly and soft - she would go to anyone. I'm scared she's been stolen.
Total panic here - hold my hand here.

Often if they've wandered, a good time to go out and call is later in the evening, when it's dark and quiet. We've found cats in garages, gardens etc by wandering round, calling and ringing bowls at this time. I guess they're more inclined to hunt at night and it's quieter then, so if they are trapped you're more likely to heart them call.

They are buggers for this. I've wept over mine (one went missing for 5 weeks - no joke!), but in 9 out of 10 cases they turn up hungry, insouciant and with no idea of what they've put you through.

(unmumsnetty hugs)

Thank you - was just coming back on to say she's back!!!! Grin

Tried calling out of dd's bedroom window and she was bounding over the fence before we could say her name twice - so she was obviously very closee - the minx! Huge fuss been made of her now.

oh hurrah - I know all too well the heart stopping panic and the sinking feeling whilst trudging the streets. They are minxes - so glad she's home!

Naughty girl Grin.

Mine once went over the fence and appeared 7 hours later at the front door, soaking. She had never been out the front so goodness knows how she found her way home. Clever girl.

Little devil. Glad she's back. Nothing like spending a couple of hours praying for the cat to come back while checking petlog have your mobile number and your dh walks around the block at 1am with a torch.
