Our lovely Charlie who we had since a kitten was put to sleep today. He was 15 and had stopped eating and had other things wrong with him. My Dh took him as I was not brave enough. How heart breaking it is. RIP Charlie Boy!

Sorry for you Meg Sad
Had my lovely old cat (18yrs old) pts last winter & it was so hard.
Still love looking at her old pics & sharing stories with DS.

MegGriffin · 28/10/2011 14:44

Thank you MrsVoltar, I feel as if I will be sad forever.

It's horrible isnt it? we've sobbed for 4 out of 5 of our cats. You have to grieve for them.

So sorry you had to make that decision.

Oh Meg! Poor Charlie ... perhaps he will meet up with FiveGoMad's George the ginger cat who was also pts recently (she had a thread on here about him in the last day or two). I hope they are already making friends in feline heaven Sad.

I cried for two days solid when one of our guinea pigs died, and we had only had her a year! Blush. I do understand how you feel.

Onemorning · 28/10/2011 17:31

I'm so sorry, big hugs xx

MegGriffin · 28/10/2011 17:46

Thank everyone. I like the idea of all the cats making friends, it makes me feel better.

Meg I'm so sorry, such a hard day for you all. RIP Charlie.

I'm so sorry Meg. I know exactly how you feel. Our cat is in a veterinary clinic with what looks like kidney failure at this point and we were offered to put her to sleep tonight or wait til monday for improvement. We're waiting but I have little hope tbh. She's 16. I've been crying non-stop since last night and know I couldn't be there with her when the time comes. I just couldn't handle it. At the same time I feel so guilty for being so weak because I feel like I owe it to her. DH would be with her in any case but still. Even contemplating it, is breaking my heart.
Hug from me!

RIP Charlie Cat

MegGriffin · 28/10/2011 21:25

Thank you so much everyone.
MrsHuxtable, I hope the outcome is as painless as possible for you, I feel you pain.
My dad had a mini stroke today as well so I am feeling just awful, like I have been hit by a train. These days are sent to test us I think.

I'm so sorry Meg. Sadly this is an unavoidable part of life with a pet, isn't it. It is heartbreaking. Something that has helped me (my cat is terminally ill but has not yet died - but I know that time is coming very soon) is to understand that it is a natural and good thing that we are attached to, and love, our pets so much. Your beautiful Charlie was well-looked after and lived a full cat life. Like every cat and living thing, he had to die one day. At least he lived the fullest and happiest life possible for a cat, which you were able to provide to him, and he reached old age. It is a devastating time. xxx

MegGriffin · 29/10/2011 17:53

Thank you MyLittleFluffball, that's very comforting. Enjoy your lovely cat every day while he is still with you x
