we moved house at the start of july. only half a mile away though so i kept him in for a month so he wouldn't go back to the old house. except he did, straight away and my old neighbour (also good friend) text to say he was there and had tried to get into my old house, new tenant was understandably not happy and was threatening to call my old landlord (not sure what old landlord could do about it really but that's what she said she would do) so i went straight away and brought him back here and i have been keeping him in ever since! except that he sometimes manages to get out. he will hide and then dash out as we are coming into the house and will be off like a shot. i go round to my old house and look for him but he isn't always there, my old neighbour is great and lets me know as soon as she sees him and i take him home. another of the old neighbours has started taking him in and feeding (i have bought food to replace what he eats and got her wine too for being so good) him and then will text me saying he is there, which is great that she is caring for him but i have asked her not to just so that he realises he isn't getting fed round there so has nothing to go round there for. evertime i take him home i keep him in but he just isn't used to being kept in and he always manages to sneak out like when the dcs are running in and out for drinks and things. he even climbs onto the roof of my front porch from the upstairs window and jumps down onto my car! occasionally he has gotten out but came back of his own accord but mostly he doesn't and i have to go looking for him. my old neighbour phoned yesterday evening to say he had tried to get into my old house again and new tenant was really upset. so i've gone to get him but he wasn't there.

what can i do? i can't keep him in forever but i cant have him upsetting people.

could you try feliway[ from the vets], I would also have ask your vet for advice.
Try keeping him in a bit longer and give him lots of treats. Good lick.

If he is only half a mile away, would he follow you home if you tempted him with food or treats? If the old neighbour doesn't feed him he might be more likely to want to follow you.

I'm now thinking a Hansel and Gretel trail of treats back to your new home... Grin

i think he would oops but no doubt would be gone again as soon as he got the chance. no luck finding him this evening and neighbour says she hasn't seen him either so maybe someone else has taken him in? hopefully he causes enough trouble to get spotted again and i can go and fetch him.

I was just thinking that if he follows you home he will learn that that is the way to go when he wants food.

I hope he turns up soon.
