Does your cat want to be chased?

We have had our rehomed cat since february and think she is about 20 months, she already had kittens but was very young.

She loves being chased. She waits for me round corners ie top of the stairs for me like she is playing hide and seek,then wants me to chase her. If i don't she waits for me to come then runs off again.

Is this a normal cat game?

one of my cats sits at the top of the garden and waits for my 3yr old to spot her, then runs into the house with him chasing, then back to the top of the garden... tis v.v.v.v.cute. the other one just hides unde the bed all day!

That does sound cute naturalbaby.

My cat likes DS 16 best- she likes to sleep in his room with him, but for some reason likes to pounce on every one at 4 in the morning so we have to shut her in the dining room at night.

Yes! It's funny. And if I'm busy and don't want to chase he hurls himself down in front of me, spreadeagled. It's a good sign when they're playing, I think. When we first got our rescue one he didn't play and it's nice to see some playfulness come back. It shows your cat is happy with you.

Get yourself a peastick and tie a feather to it on a long string - waggle it in front of her nose - guaranteed giggles (and you only have to waggle one arm while she gets loads of excercise) Mine also like milk bottle tops tied to string. You'll want a nice long stick in case she gets over-excited. I've only ever been scratched by my cats when they were playing and forgot their claws through excitement!

My old cat loved being chased, he would literally jump in the air with excitement at the start of the game. It was more like hide and seek really with him running off and hiding behind doors and under beds, then getting 'found' and running off again.

He taught the other cat how to play and they would thunder around the house for up to an hour at a time.

That was fab at four in the morning.

My cats play chase in the garden - girl will pounce on the boy, he'll leg it and then stop to wait for her, pounce on her, she legs it etc. It is very cute to watch.

my cat plays a game where he does this really intense siamese stare at something behind me for ages - when i turn to see what he is staring at he then is looking straight at me .

he likes to box us when it's time for bed too.

We're had a rescue cat for ten days. She's also around 20 months, also had kittens very young and is exactly the same with the chasing. Where ever I go. she is there, darting in front of me, stopping, then darting off again. It's lovely - she was very quiet and calm in the rescue centre and when we first brought her home but seems to have discovered her inner kitten
