I have 2 4.5 month old kittens - they are lovely. BUT they have just this week started to piddle in the house. They still have their litter tray in the garage where it has been for about 2 months, but one of them blatanty pee'd on the floor in front of me this week.

I then came home today from work to another puddle.

I am PARANOID about cat smell and have thrown white vinegar and zoflora (not much better than the smell of cat piss really but hey ho).

Why the bloody hell are they doing this? I have two older boy cats who are 3 and they have never piddled in the house.

All 4 cats get along swimmingly and seem very happy and content, so I don't think they are distressed or neurotic.

They're still quite young. How many litter trays have you got in the house. If you have 4 cats, you should have 4 trays really.

I can't tell from your post if they are outdoor or indoor cats? Presumably the kittens at least are indoors? Are the trays kept v clean also?

Yes I keep the trays insanely clean - I pick up poop from them with nappy bags in the morning, and change the litter completely every two days.

The kittens do go outside but only when we are there, however they cannot get out the garden yet (fences like fort Knox). They stay in all day however, lock the external cat flap so the elder boys stay outside (they do have an outhouse however to go into).

You should try some more trays actually IN the house (I know it's rubbish having litter trays kicking about in house but better than piss on floor?). You prob know this but absolutely no bleach to clean where they've pissed. Biological washing powder supposed to be good. Are they male or female ?

I think I will move the tray back in - it used to be in the hallway, perhaps my moving it has annoyed them and they are performing a dirty protest.

I will try biological powder - I have used vinegar as someone told me that was supposed to be good. Is there anything I can spray with abandon around the house to prevent them, or will that disturb the cats the little gits

Luckily I don't have any carpet or soft furnishings in the house so don't think the smell will linger on varnished wood floors, but I don;t want them to get used to peeing indoors.

You're welcome . I can't think of anything you could just spray randomly tbh. It might be worth getting a feliway diffuser anyway, although I know you say none of them are stressed but it might just rule that out. I think there's always a slight element of stress in a multi-cat household, even if it's not obvious... Good luck!

My 4 yr old female cats still pee inside from time to time....for attention I think!
I have 2 litter trays inside, yet they are out most of the day. I thoroughly clean the litter trays every day. Yet we still get the peeing, mostly in the same place, and sometimes the culprit will look you in the eye while doing it!
Very odd behaviour, but don't know how to stop it happening.
