moving house with 2 cats.

is there anything i should do to prepare them? (we move july 1st)

and once moved what can i do to make it home for them? i know i need to keep them in for a while but how long? also, we are only moving half a mile from here, it's likely they will return here isn't it? how can i keep them at the new house?

We bought some catnip spray for our cats to keep them calm and happy. We also kept them in for ages - about a month I think but we were moving quite a long way away. Are they both micro chipped and if they were a collar have you thought about a thing with your new details in. We were followed home by a lovely cat and she would not leave us so I looked in the little thing attached to her collar and there was a mobile number. She had escaped from the new house and got lost so I was able to take her home. I would only let them out initially when they are hungry so they won't go far. Hope everything goes well!

they are both chipped. one wears a collar and the other just will not keep it on. he gets out of every single one i put on him. i will get another and buy two of the iD tags. they are both great hunters so i don't think hunger will keep them at home. the spray is a good idea. there is a spare bedroom in the new house which i will be using as an office/storeroom so i am thinking of making that their place, putting their beds in and feeding them in there. the dcs will not be allowed in that room. hopefully that will help them feel more at home.

My Mum moved several times with cats, said put butter on their paws, makes them wash themselves and feel at home. It worked for me when we moved. Catnip is good too as already suggested! good luck!

it sounds like it would work!! butter is ok to give to cats isn't it? i know they steal a lick of your knife if they can but is it ok?
