I rehomed a cat about 3 weeks ago, and have just been to the vet to get her vaccinated and checked, the vet told me she's about 5 weeks pregnant, what should I be doing?

Well to start with I'd ring the rescue and say "hey!!" They should be able to help you with advice too.

I'll link this thread to pinot's kitten one in classics and ask if I can get Summer and Pinot to come and talk to you.

im suprised the rescue home didnt spay her
you can choose whether to go ahead with the op or let her have the kittens before getting her spayed

Hey Hoops - I remember you talking about rehoming a cat!! :) SummerRain is the oracle and she'll be over here soon I'm sure - I just wing it as I go along (as in life....)

OK, basics - how old is the cat? Is she still young enough to be on kitten food? I think kitten food is actually better for a pg cat as its higher in essential vits and fats and stuff, so maybe an idea.

Really though, you need to get back to the home and ask for advice there - believe me when I say vets bills are potentially enormous even if everything goes well. Hope they help you out.

Practical things you'll need - cardboard boxes for the Mum Cat to whelp in, loads of old towels - enough to change twice daily, cotton wool balls x a million for cleaning them...

Exciting though! It's huge fun - my kittens are an absolute blessing x

the vet offered to spay her, basically terminate the pregnancy but I said no, I'll let her have the kittens and keep them, I'm quite excited really!
