Jeffrey is under House Arrest...

He has been limping, we don't know why, so the vet has prescribed pain killers and 5 days of room confinement to allow his foot time to heal. (If he doesn't stop liming the next step is Xrays etc.)

He's so bored! He normally just comes and goes when he wants. We have to go to work so how can we give him entertainment? DH thinks I'm insane because I want to leave the television on for him...

That is a bit bonkers Wink

Look if he's feeling sore and miserable he needs to sleep. They don't actually need entertaining when they are sick, they need quiet and rest.

Hope he feels better soon.

(Oh and I read your title as 'Jeffrey Archer under house arrest' and thought quite right too Blush Grin )

Thanks WMMC - the silly thing is he's not in obvious pain (although I know cats can sometimes mask it very well) but he looks at the door with such longing every time we open it. I feel like such a mean cat-mummy :(

Well, at least we managed to give him his painkiller last night - took the pair of us though!

And i definately did did not leave the TV on this morning so he could watch Ace of Cakes...

If he's playing up when you are giving him a pill he's not suffering a lot. Cats in pain don't fight back when faced with medication IME. Unless they are naturally feral obv.

You are not being mean you are doing what you have to to get him well again. FWIW I had a cat who came home lame and five days antibiotics and painkillers and he was back to his normal killer self, slaying various animals the first day we let him out. Hope yours is the same (apart from the mass murder obv. Wink).

I know - and I know that if we don't keep him in and it doesn't get better then it could be even worse later on. I just have to keep telling myself 'It's for his own good'

Am slightly smug that we are very good at giving him his tablet now - and also realise that I have massivly jinxed myself for tomorrow. One of us (me) holds him in an iron grip, the other (DH) prises his jaw open and literally throws the pill down the back of his throat. Then Jeff gives us 'the look' and moans a bit...

Thank you for listening to me blather on!
