Moved in with my brother in jan this year while we get work done on our house, my 2 cats never hardly go out at all, but the eldest is my boy salem , we came back late last night after being out and he wanted to go out, so let him out and went to bed. normally i wait up till he comes back in again as they dont stay out at night and end up crying and waking me up in the middle of the night so to save the bother i just wait, last night i didnt.

the conversation had been in the night how protective i am of my cats (there are most definatly baby substitutes till i get the real thing!) so i thought ill show them and let him stay out all night if he wants, as soon as i got to bed i heard him scratching to get back i but ignored it. i wish now id taken the time to just get up and let him in cos so far he has gone missing. Ive literally looked around the block 6/7 times already, been outside on the doorstep shaking his foodand nothing.

He normally sits under my brothers car, he went out early this morning to take his friend to work and im sitting here with all paranoid thoughts what if he had climbed into the car engine, what if he's been knocked over etc.

I seriously do not know what to do, he went missing once in our old house (where hes lived since we got him) but he was back by 3 the next day absolutely starving! i really hope it happens again but cos its a new area im really upset that hes gone for good this time. Ive had him since i was 17, im now 31 and i desperatly want my little mate back, so any advice what i can do is greatly appreciated, thanks you for taking the time to read this x

Oh dear. Ok, posters put up everywhere, phone all local vets, cat rescue centres to check he's not there or on a waiting list to go in.

Is he microchipped? Go out every day calling him and ask all neighbours to check their garages and sheds stating he is an old boy and new to the area.

So sorry your going through this.

Could he have gone back to your house?

Vix1980 · 16/04/2011 15:12

Hi, cos were working on our house every day there is always someone there, my boyfriend has gone back there but its about half an hour away by foot so i doubt how hed find the way, hes not chipped but did have a tag on which i found in the back garden.

Ive been round putting up posters asking people etc, 1 neighbour said she saw a man with a pellet gun thursday tea time, salem didnt go out till at least half 9, so im kind of keeping hope, on the other hand im preparing for the worst too. Im a total mess, cant sleep i was awake at 2am walking the neighbourhood, ive just had to taje some night nurse in the hope i can stop crying and sleep, ive been to the local vets they all have descriptions of him, i just wish i knew something, anything at all, i just want to be able to hold him again but can help feeling so negative about it. x

Is he neutered? If he's not he might have followed a female in season. Check bushes on the side of the road to see if he's hurt and ran for cover.

Hi, he is neutered. My partner spoke to a man yesterday who had been seen with a pellet gun, it turns out it was a paintball gun but i still dont know, there was something very dodgy about him as he was the only person to come up to me and say how many cats there where by his which is 3 doors away, i just found thst strange, hes also spoken to a few of the kids about how he hates cats.
i then went and spoke to him and said nothing will happen to him all i desperatly want is some closure and to have the chance to bury my little friend, i think im owed that after having him for 14 years, he denied it and said hed never hurt a cat, but i dont know, my last words to him were, if you know where he is please just leave him on the doorstep or my garden for me to find, i wouldnt say anything to anyone i just want him back.

i was hoping hed take this to heart but when i got up there was nothing! ive rung all the vets, pdsa, rspca so i guess its just a waiting game now, its the waiting and not knowing thats kiling me though!
