she didn't come in this morning but a neighbour said she did see her this morning.

we went out for lunch, and then my step dad checked outside after and found her dead by the road.

i am devastated, our darling girl was only 18 months old, and she replaced our cat Pixie who was only a year old. I posted about Pixie at the end of 2009, she died of Felv, very suddenly.

I can't belive it but i almost had a premonition or notion it would happen. I carried her down stairs two nights ago and told her what ever happens to you never forget how much we love you.

dd8 yrs, is being a bit strange, maybe she is used to it or she is in shock. She is being sensible, and saying words to comfort me.

I have been so very aware of the presence of the life in our cat in recent days, just been more in love with her than ever. We would always seek her out for kisses, and she was always there, being daft.

DD and i have endured so so much over the past yrs, i feel dd doesn't know anything else except loss.

Our cat was called Pudding, and she was slinky , and black and white, like cow hide.

rip darling xxxxxxxxx

I'm so sorry. I know how upsetting this is, like losing a dear friend. I'm really sorry.

SummerRain · 10/04/2011 17:33

i'm sorry Sad

One of mine is missing too, been gone 2 weeks now so expect the worst has happened.

DooinMeCleanin · 10/04/2011 17:34

I'm so sorry Sad. Pudding sounds like she was very loved and had a very nice life with you.

whomovedmychocolate · 10/04/2011 17:34

Oh no :(

I'm so sorry for your loss. Poor pudding. :(

Well she won't have known what was going on hopefully.

We have had our new cat for a month or so now and it's made up for all the bad stuff with the previous three because he's such a little star (he's a rescue bengal - noisy but very loveable). Probably too soon for you to think about such things but do consider the Blue cross if you decide to get another one. :)

tribpot · 10/04/2011 17:36

I'm so, so sorry for you :(

I think your dd appears to be taking it in her stride (a) because she can see how upset you are and (b) because kids are a lot more pragmatic than we are and tend to live more in the here-and-now. Plus she probably isn't making the same emotional connection to your other losses.

Take it easy on yourself, it's a complete shock.

piratecat · 10/04/2011 17:38

i will, thats where pudding came from, but i really don't think i can do this again, not to dd.

we got Pudding within 2 weeks of Pixie dying, to fill the gap. Pudding was a real scardy cat, i think she was chased onto the road. she never went anywhere else cept the garden.

I know you take your chances but i just won't do it again.

I feel sick. I will miss her so much. it's not fair. i am sick of shit happening. self indulgent maybe but i am, it's always bad luck here, despite me trying to live a good self aware life. had enough of it.

dd's loss of her father ( he doesn't bother anymore) is different i guess.

I am so sorry you have lost another cat SadSad.

Don't even think about getting or not getting another cat yet. You need time to grieve and you will know if and when the time is right.

My cat won't get better and I know I can't be without a cat so will be getting 2 kittens when she goes.

piratecat · 10/04/2011 17:52

yes you r right, i can't even think it.

I find it hard to contemplate the strong emotions we had for her this week though in light of what has happened.

I wish I knew what to say that could take your pain away.

sharbie · 10/04/2011 18:04

not nice at all

but we have been v lucky with ours - 5 in total and not had something like this happen.
you have been so unlucky pirate x

piratecat · 10/04/2011 18:05

thanks for being here. feel so alone. i keep expecting to her. you'd think it was simple just being able to have cat last longer than this.

i have lost 4 in ten yrs, to accidents or sudden illness. 2 in 18 months.

my dd is a cat fanatic. i don't understand why she seems resigned to it, i am a bit worried. i worry i won't be able to help her when the fall out comes. we get over one thing and another things comes. she has only just started going to sleep nicely in the last 2 months, and thats since she was 4 :(

FAB5 · 10/04/2011 18:07

Talk to your dd, look at photos of your cats, try not to worry about her. She knows where you are if she needs to talk.

piratecat · 10/04/2011 18:07

she even came out to see Pudding.

my mum and stepdad have taken Pudding, and the 3 lots of ashes i had here, up to where they have a field, to bury them altogether.

it's too sad.

OP posts:
piratecat · 10/04/2011 18:09

as with Pixie, i just know that Pud had a beautiful life with us, she was adored, kissed cuddled and played with all the time. She played fetch, sat in the sink, did acrobatics on the stepladder.

She used to talk to dd, when dd lay with her, just last night in fact, saying I love you Pud, do you love me. Then Pud would do that funny noise they do when they see a bird, like a cackle, in reply.

OP posts:
piratecat · 10/04/2011 19:39

dd is still calm.

OP posts:
SecretNutellaFix · 10/04/2011 19:45

I'm so sorry pirate!

I've lost 2 to road deaths, and it's crushing isn't it? Especially when they are so young.

I'm sure your DD will be all right. It may take her some time.

IlsaLund · 10/04/2011 20:10

I'm so sorry Piratecat - we lost one on the road last year (she had followed DH down the road) and it was devastating.

Poor Pud, she sounds like an absolute super star

RedbinD · 10/04/2011 20:15

So sorry for your loss. I hate it when one of our cats dies.

piratecat · 10/04/2011 21:45

thankyou everyone.

i think dd is worried about my crying so i am making an effort more. then she can lean on me.

OP posts:
Ingles2 · 10/04/2011 21:49

I worry about my cats being run over every day having lost far too many that way. I know just how painful it is.
RIP Pudding Sad

piratecat · 10/04/2011 22:02
