Anyone ever seen cats attack a dog?

My dads dog (a very cute 8mo jack russell cross) was set upon by 2 cats sunday evening. It was the the weirdest thing I have ever seen and was unprovoked, the poor dog is completely traumatised!

I have never seen any thing like it before and wondered if any of you had?!

Yup, some cats are really quite violent towards dogs!

I would love to meet some with my dog who thinks it is ok to chase cats Angry

My DF has a cat who really enjoys stalking the local JR. Poor thing only got a swipe from her once but is totally terrified now and she seems to really LOVE terrorising the poor thing!

These cats were vicious seriously, the dog had scratches all over his head but luckily they missed his eyes, I escaped with a scratch to my foot were I tried to boot one of the cats off him!!!

Every day. I have had my lab 5 years and one of my cats still attacks her. She jumps on her bottom and digs her claws in. The cat has mapped out the house- her rooms and dogs room. If dog goes into her room she get attacked.

Oh, DF cat once attacked a poor boxer who was just walking past her on a lead!! Latched onto his bum with her claws and kept biting him whilst he wizzed round trying desperatly to get her off... DF had to go and pull her off. Owner was not impressed!

It is not funny...really!

girliefriend · 29/03/2011 20:50

It was just so co-ordinated apart from anything else, and both the cats stalked my flat for ages afterwards! Freaky!

They do sound a bit fixated! Poor puppy will be afraid to leave the house. Can you take a water spray out with you when you walk him? (or a sports water bottle) to give them a squirt with? Hopefully a couple of times will be enough to warn them off?

Yes, my lovely but incredibly daft lab got attacked by a cat when he was a pup. His nose was all bloody:(
Fortunately the cats' owner was outside at the time and dh asked him to take the cat in, he did whilst laughing his head off.
The dog now chases cats :)

Yeah mine does Blush . I keep him away from dogs though.

Reminds me of Scarface Claw from the Hairy McClary books!

i once had a staff who was attacked by a very small cat while we were walking down the road. it took me a while to kick the cat away as i was laughing so hard Grin he was traumatised and was scared of cats for ever after (i'm not heartless it just wasn't a serious attack and i'd never seen the like!)

TheOriginalNutcracker · 29/03/2011 22:53

Yep mine will always at least try to have a go at a dog. She does normally back off as soon as they retaliate though. She thinks she is rambo or something I think lol.

TheOriginalNutcracker · 29/03/2011 22:53

I always pick her up or shoo her away if I see her do it btw.

MrsRhettButler · 29/03/2011 22:53

feel sorry for the poor pups though :(

Our family cat when we were growing up used to hide in the tree by the drive and leap onto my aunties spaniel every time they came to visit. He never did her any real damage (wounded pride mainly), and he never did it to any other dogs - we thought it was hilarious, my auntie used to get really huffy!

CMOTdibbler · 30/03/2011 15:28

My big ginger boy cat does - you see him out of the window squaring up to dogs who are out on the green

My two cats regularly attack our dog. They blame him for everything that goes wrong in their lives. His nose is a mass of scars and he never does anything back.

girliefriend · 30/03/2011 20:00

OMG I am now a little bit scared of cats, I was talking to a colleague at wk about it today and she knew of a chiwawa that was killed by a cat Sad

Naughty pusses, (lol at scarface claw!!!)
