My cat died

He has been missing for a couple of days, and today my local vet called to say he had been brought in a couple of days ago by someone who had seen him get hit by a car. He was dead when he got to the vet afaik.

I am going to get the body in about an hour. Kids are distraught about it.

It tops off a horrendous few weeks where one of our dogs almost died from a blockage in her intestines, a bowel perforation and peritonitis, and another one got attacked by a german shepherd.

i hope he didnt suffer, i dont have all the details yet.

I knew something had to be wrong as he is usually like clockwork turning up for his food, and he sleeps on ds1's bed every night. Plus he wasnt a cat to stray v far, in fact he often used to be waiting in my drive for me to pull in and walk me to the house.

Oh I'm very sorry lou :( RIP poor boy

lou33 · 23/03/2011 15:24

Thank you. He was only about 4. We found him as a kitten and noone claimed him, so we kept him.

I'm so sorry, at least you know what has happened and don't spend months wondering.

lou33 · 23/03/2011 17:49

I got him from the vet and we have buried him in the garden. There has been lots of tears from the children.

I really love cats. Our two mean the world to us. The trouble with cats is that they can get into such scrapes and then you're worrying and looking for days and days.

Sounds like an awful week on the pet front for you. They become so much a part of the family don't they?

Lulie110 · 23/03/2011 19:42

Lou, very very sorry for you, and for the whole family.

purpleknittingmum · 23/03/2011 19:47

FourFortyFour · 23/03/2011 20:08

So sorry to hear of your loss Sad.

LisaD1 · 24/03/2011 08:52

So sorry Lou.

We had the same happen Xmas week, our little lad didn't turn up for feeding and I came home to an answer phone message from a guy that had found him dead at the roadside, he was only just a year old, we went to get him but think a fox had beaten us to it as he was gone.
