Kitten weeing on sofa - HELP!

Hi,

We have a 5 month old kitten who has started to wee on our sofa. It is disgusting and very stressful (have children and everyone who knows me would describe me as ocd re the house!). She just squats and wees on it as if it's normal! I have covered the bit she usually goes on and she just did the same thing on the other side.

Her litter tray is kept spotlessly clean.

This is causing arguments and stress we could all do without.

Any ideas please how to make her stop?

I have never found anything to stop a cat weeing where it wants to. The only thing I have been able to do is to move furniture to stop that spot being available etc. but you can't do that with a sofa! And I guess it would be impossible to keep her out of the living room.

Has she been spayed? Is it possible she has an urinary infection?

Have a read of this:

Definitely get her checked out by a vet if she's just started doing it.

She might be anxious. Try getting a Feliway diffuser or spray, it might calm her a bit. Cats often pee where they shouldn't if they are stressed, anxious or scared. Especially if they are not used to a place or there has been an animal intruder in their territory.
