Moan about my cat using the litter tray

Our hours of work have all changed since the kids left school and work, our cat had a couple of accidents due to being left in the house and our new house not having a cat flap. We got a litter tray and have put it in the ensuite as that was where she had been having her accidents. She has now decided to become an indoor cat and I absolutely hate emptying the tray daily, and she does it when we are all in the house, ...yuk....she is 8 years old and has no health problems, is this normal for cats? Should I just put the litter tray out when there is no one in the house?

Our cat is similar - except she often gets into the litter tray, sticks her bum out and does it on the floor.

I've found popping her outside for an hour or so after eating has cut down her use of the litter tray a bit.

Hi, thanks for that, I tried putting her out about tea time as that is when she is doing her "business" but she sits at the patio doors frantically pawing at the door looking at me pleadingly, yesterday I held out and she eventually went in the garden, tried today but she didn't give up, let her back in after half an hour and she went upstairs and done it...sigh...she is a lovely cat and really affectionate. I think she is a bit lonely sometimes, she wakes me up about 4am most mornings to go downstairs to watch her eat Hmm my partner thinks she might just have early dementia...
