Anyone have a persian cat?

I am on the look out for a new kitten. My two older cats have now passed away at the grand old ages of 14 & 16 and I am left with my gorgeous chinchilla/burmilla X boy who is nearly 10.
Am very excited to hear the patter of tiny paws again and am really looking into the possibility of owning a persian. My boy is long haired so know all about the grooming side of things and he also has watery eyes so am used to doing all that too.

Have seen an advert for a litter of persians and off to see them tomorrow but they are expensive. Will be able to see mum & dad (both persians) but they are sold as pets as owner hasn't registered them etc (which is fine with me as just want a pet).
How much would you say was a reasonable amount to pay? They will be wormed, de-flead, vet checked and microchipped. They are blue/cream or black/silver.

Am so excited but am trying to put my sensible head on but thats so hard when I have already fallen in love with the fluffball .

I'm really sceptical of breeders these days. I've had 2 cats from breeders and I wouldn't recommend either of them. One blatently lied about the state of the cats health and the other charged me £350 for a cat that she believed to be ill.

If it's not coming with a certificate then don't go paying registered prices. A moggie kitten should cost you anywhere between £20 and £100 depending where you live - idk why but up north kittens are generally cheaper.

Like I said, I paid £350 for an 18 month old alledgerdly pedigree MC that was not registered that the owner was desperate to get rid of because my OH fell in love with her and refused to leave without her - hence me losing my bargaining tool. I then spent £100 nursing her back to health from cat flu. If he'd have controlled himself I'm sure I could have walked out of that house with the cat for £150 which imo is still too much for a sick cat.

I've just read that back and I sound heartless - I'm not honest, I love both my girls, I just hate breeders that tell lies and mistreat their cats.

The best most loving cat I ever had was a persian. She was wonderful and I long for another one. I would go for it, if I could afford it!

Why don't you contact the persian cat club and see if they have any young persians look for a home via their rescue pages.

Problem with buying off breeders is that you are encouraging them to inbreed etc to create the perfect winning cat

I have pedigrees but they're via rescue. MIL seems to have been ripped off in all her cat purchases IMHO, all of them have had major health/personality issues
