HELP ! Why does he do it and how do I stop it.. Pooing..

Im desperate, our kitten is around 6 months old. Was litter trained although after much discussion with the vet we feel maybe he was younger when he came to us that we were told. Thinking 6 weeks instead of 9 iir.

Now, the last month or so he has taken to pooing, yes POO'ing on the beds. .

I have washed numerous duvet covers, thrown 2 duvets away along with covers and also thrown a mattress out .

Today, I got out of the shower to a fresh poo on my bed AGAIN .
Im really not happy, dh isn't and wont be when I tell him about this.

what do I do now..?

He has a litter tray, its cleaned fully every few days and poo removed daily.

He uses it so why does he poo on the bed.

Im 99% sure im going to rehome him.

He is pedigree persian chinchilla btw.

PLEASE HELP, IM DESPERATE

first thing - get the vet to check him to see if there's a physical problem.

if not, consider any recent stress - other cats in the garden perhaps? look at managing the stress - feliway hormone stuff might help

I would change the whole tray daily - switch to supermarket economy litter if this is too costly.

I have just spoken to the vet, she says as he goes in the litter tray 90% of the time its behavioral.

Not aware of any stress.. he's an indoors cat, has acess to food water and litter tray.

He has acess to the outside via windows and viewing points. Unless he has spotted anything outside iykwim.

Im at a lost... feliway hormone stuff..? can you guide me more please . x

Keep the bedroom door shut.

That is my plan now butterbur....BUT we were away at the wkd with a neighbour feeding him etc and all doors were closed.... he pooed on the bed on the 3rd floor .

Pretty sure neighbour hadn't opened the door (will check) but think the cat has pushed the door open. I mean to go up 3 floors to poo..??????

We had 3 chinchillas and let them all out. There no less streetwise than other cats. Got a Bengal now and he goes out too, if your on a busy road let him out the door furthest from the road and only during the day.

As long as he's neutered he won't roam. We kept our chincillas in for a while and it made them so miserable we caved in a put a cat flap in.

Don't think it will stop him poo'ing inside BUT it is something I am now considering.

im due at the vet for a pre op check tomorrow so will get details on a behaviourist helper and will consider letting him out in a few weeks time once he has been neutered..

all day he hasn't ventured even near the rooms... spent most of the time on the stairs !
