Picking a kitten up on thursday but we don't have a name, its a ginger taby (tom cat)?

Any ideas?

I quite like human names or something a bit different.

Barry
or
Jim

you will know when you get him

CatBoySlim = Jim

CatBoyFat = Barry

nb you have to think of him 3 yrs down the line either
larding it up on the sofa = Barry, or
obsessively chasing small wildlife = Jim

you get the idea

I love real names on cats! Ours are called Ted and Amy :o
The older unfashionable male names really amuse me, such as Derek, Bernard, Cecil, Nigel and Kenneth.. must have a similar sense of humour to PearlBarley!

We have a ginger kitten called Stanley!

He is so much fun & knows his name - it really suits him. My friend has a ginger kitty called Henry!

Pennies · 08/02/2011 21:10

We've got a Boris here.

Stase · 08/02/2011 21:14

Our ginger cat is called Archie, but also Angus, sometimes Goose for short. Maybe a name will just present itself!

My next cat is going to be Newman after Newman on Seinfeld, but you can have it too if you want. Smile

There was a stray who used to frequent our garden as children whom we named Oedipus, Oeddy for short. (His mother always tagged along...)

catinthehat2 · 08/02/2011 23:31

I like Graham or Trevor as well, but I think they are more Black Cat names, not Ginge.

frostyfingers · 09/02/2011 14:27

My ginger devil is called Jaffa - we also considered Twiglet (he's got very distintive stripes) but that was vetoed.

ethelina · 09/02/2011 15:56

My Ginger Moron is called Tango, though to be honest he usually gets called Patty. Hmm

Maud2011 · 09/02/2011 21:39

I too like human names for cats but how about letting him name himself?

Very nearly 17 years ago I acquired (or was it tuther way round?) a tiny black bundle of fluff. He came to me aged only 4 weeks after his Mum died on the road Sad. I was frightfully keen on Renaissance Italy at the time and considered names like Lorenzo and Giangaleazzo (would have needed a shortening!) but as it happened, the little orphan sat in the clasped palms of my hands and bit my neck. Jolly hard considering he barely had teeth. A little Dracula he became... and he's still going strong Grin. He's only ever bitten me once since, when I was trying to get some very unpleasant meds down his gob.

Having said that, Orlando the Marmalade Cat was one of my favourite books when I was small, Orlando would be a lovely name for a ginger cat!

Dropdeadfred · 09/02/2011 21:41

Astrophic

2blessed2bstressed · 09/02/2011 21:47

Fergus - because he's ginger, and therefore must have proud Scottish heritage somewhere back down the line Grin

ilovetheshops · 09/02/2011 21:52

Hector or Hamish
our black tom cat is called Fergus

MoldyWarp · 09/02/2011 23:27
