Cat and orange juice.

Have had cats for years, but never came across this before.

We now have a brother and sister, they are about 6 months old. Boy cat, for some reason, loves to drink orange juice - not squash, but real juice. To the extent that today, I left a carton of juice in a bag while I was putting away the rest of the shopping, and he chewed through the bag and the carton, I found him eagerly lapping up the juice as it leaked into the carrier bag. Confused

He will also jump up onto the table and stick his head into a glass of juice if we don't stop him in time.

They have fresh water all the time, fed properly every day etc etc.

Just wondered if anyone else had a cat with exotic tastes?

they are supposed to hate oranges aren't they?
my siamese likes to chew the netting you get on a bag of oranges but if you pick up an orange he runs away from it.very odd.

They are supposed to hate citrus. They're supposed to dislike pepper too but my cat licked it when i put it down to repel her from a spot. Bloody cats.

Siamese's are quite well known for having Pica (eating inedible things), my non siamese cat has it too. I have to be really careful as she'll ingest as much string as she can (and that can be really damaging for their insides, maybe even fatal) and she'll gnaw on plastic carrier bags - probably not good either.

very strange creature.

However, considering they lick thir arses after going to the loo, it's no wonder they can stomach most things.

Our girl cat likes salt and vinegar crisps. I found out when I was MNing and had a bag open next to me, when she sneaked up beside me and stuck her head in and helped herself.

I love cats, they have so much personality!

My cat also licked the bowl after i'd finished my tomato soup - I only realised when she came in with soup on her face!

My cat Basil likes crumpets, hot cross buns, malt loaf, cucumber to be honest anything bready, if we don't hide stuff in the cupboard he chews through the wrapping and noms it. Bloody cat!

And I thought my cat who likes to eat chips was odd... yours definitely has her beat :)

msrisotto he also licks the plates when my DS has baked beans - he seems to love the tomato sauce and comes back with it plastered over his whiskers.

My girl cat likes crisps as well, she prefers cheese and onion though. I have had other cats that liked crisps so didn't think that was esp strange, but have never had one that likes orange juice.

And as far as I know he doesn't have any siamese in him - he is a typical ginger tom.

i have a ginger tom as well who will eat anything but i think he'd draw the line at orange juice

pinguwings · 23/01/2011 16:54

One of mine will do this. She'll dip her paw in the glass then lick it off. Strange creatures...

My youngest cat loves salad and olives. Doesn't like fish though.
