DH and I have had to make the decision tonight that tomorrow evening will be Pepper the Tabby's final visit to the vet surgery. SadSadSad

She is 10 years old last month, has recently developed diabetes but we can't treat it because she has gum related issues that would be made worse by the treatment for the diabetes, whilst the diabetes would be made worse by the treatment for the gums (steroids). She was rescued by us at the approximate age of 7 months, with her sister Marble, who passed away after developing FIP in 2005.

Pepper is cuddly, loves being on your knee, and thinks strokes are the best thing ever. I am completely gutted, as is DH - who "doesn't like cats" (till he started going out with me!!!)

So sorry to hear that, Meow. Doing this last kindness is so hard.

If she will be put under more stress and strain, then it's the kindest thing for her. And the toughest for you.

If you feel strong enough later on to get another cat, just remember you won't be replacing her, you will be offering your hearts to another cat who needs it.

I'm sorry. I'm still crying 2 months after my old dog was pts for untreatable cancer. To keep her alive would have been selfish and irresponsible of us.
