Jasper went missing the week before Christmas. Got him home today with a suspected broken tail. Cannot get to the vets until next Thursday (when he will also be neutered/chipped).

Receptionist said that he would have to have his beautiful tail amputated at a cost of over £150 with drugs needed.

Is this a price all vets charge? Could anything else be done or will he definitely need it amputating? He is still wagging it.

So chuffed that we have him home put pissed off that I cancelled his insurance last Thursday!

oh no that is crap!
Is he ok in himself? can the vet not see him until then?

Price sounds about right- considering that a week of painkillers for the dog was over £10.

Funds wouldn't allow until then anyway unfortunately. Apparently he has been fine at the house he was staying at. He has a cut from his nose to his top lip that they lady says has gotten better since she picked him up.

I have put him in my bedroom away from the dcs for the time being as dd likes to pick him up a lot. But he does seem ok. Keep going in to check on him and he has eaten well and keeps coming for cuddles.

Wish I knew how it had happened though. He would of crossed a very busy duel carriageway, 3 fields, a motorway (both N & S ) then over a couple more fields and B roads.
