Best cat litter?

We use a clay based clumping litter but our cats get it on their paws and trail it all over the house - yuk! Can anyone recommend one that works as well i.e absorbent and non-smelly, but doesn't cling to the cats paws?

Another vote for Catsan - sometimes hard to get the 20 litre better value for money pack as only about 3 fit on a supermarket shelf. I had to settle for Tesco's own at Xmas. It looked the same but just didn;t absorb the wee. It needed changing after about a day and a half. Catsan doesn't smell and lasts about a week (assuming regular poo removal)for a cat that is out most of the day but tends to poo before going out and in the evening (ah cats - don't you just luv 'em?!)

Catsan is a success so far. I was worried the fussy little blighters might not want to use it but they seem quite happy and no mess being trailed round the house - result!

Catsan rocks but Sainos odour control litter also does the job for half the price.
