How do I get mouse out from behind the gas fire?

Boy cat is so thick he keeps bringing me the mice he catches, despite the fact that everytime I kick him out and evict said living mouse.

Latest victim escaped to hide behind the 60's gas fire (totally non functioning)so how do I catch it and evict it.

We have an open plan house so cats are currently barricaded in the kitchen. Have tried to entice mouse into a small box with a piece of apple - really don't expect this to work though.

any ideas?

Sorry, don't know, but Grin at situation!

Try a bit of mars bar, that is what we bait our traps with.

CarGirl · 27/10/2010 13:17

Short term solution is that I have barricaded either side of fire to protect mouse from cats and given mouse an apple core.......

Cats have bogged off outside as they got fed up of waiting for me to unbarricade the kitchen doorway!

Melted or not! Wink

Ha ha melted- that was rather a coincidence.

Definitely not melted.

You only need a bit, so you can eat the rest of the bar. Yum.

He'll either die in situ or your cats will catch him later

SpookilyDoodleydoohoohoooooo · 27/10/2010 21:58

have you got anything that can poke it? I find poking gets them moving and if really quick dh has got the knack of catching them by the tail Grin

Dead mice are really smelly.

CarGirl · 27/10/2010 22:01

Can't even see it hiding - it's got access to the chimney. Cats are shut in the kitchen overnight so I doubt they'll ever get him. We're just hoping boy cat hasn't let one escape to the chimney when we were out one day otherwise there could be baby mice everywhere.......

I use these as you can poke them into small gaps and then release mouse with no blood or guts handling
and also because I am a softie Grin

We found mouse this evening Sad he obviously died last night probably from internal injuries as he was by the bookcase. Neither of the cats had found him though useless feckin creatures
