Please can someone tell me how do i get the cats to use a flap?

It's a PetPorte flap, their microchips do work with it as we have tested them. How do I get them to use it though. They are RSPCA re-homing/rescue cats so I have no idea if they have used one before.

They're sleeping now but I shall put them out when I do the school run this afternoon and hope that they have worked their way back in by the time (we're not coming straight home). They should be hungry by then. And cold maybe.
