Why did my cat wee in the empty, except for a newspaper, laundry basket?

She has full access to outside and hasn't weed inside for years.

Could be:
a. she's stressed
b. she's scared to go out (another more dominant cat around?)
c. she's a cat and they do random things like this

are you waiting on her hand and foot?, have you caused her displeasure in some way?

Is it a plastic laundry basket? Some cats have a "thing" about some plastics.

does she have an indoor litter tray?
our cats sometimes wee on newspaper if there's one lying around

She is kind of stressed in that she is ill but it doesn't really affect her day to day other than taking medication.
There is a lot of cats around but I am not aware of any new ones.
Always waiting on her and often cause displeasure but then she changes what she will eat on a daily basis.
Yes, it was a plastic laundry basket left in the utility room.
No, she doesn't have a litter tray as she has full access to outside whenever she wants.
I suspect it was cold last night and she didn't fancy going out or else she got confused.
